And this is everything I managed to finish in May!
A hobby blog about collecting, converting & colouring miniatures. DIY tabletop terrain making & wargaming, mostly Warhammer Age of Sigmar, 40k and Necromunda. Dirty waters & thick paints.

Bolstering the ranks of Skaventide
Gosh! Just noticed I haven't posted anything for two whole weeks. Been painting and assembling yet more Skaven. Took lots of WIP pics (will be posting them next week), and here are the final results. The Clanrats were pretty much done earlier this month, but the banner is new. Very happy how it came out! In addition to them, here's an Arch-Warlock (mistakenly referred as being just a Warlock Engineer on earlier posts), a Hell Pit Abomination and a unit of Stormvermin.

Just a relaxed sunday afternoon with a bunch of Rats.
Did some basing on the Warlock Engineer and Hell Pit Abomination, as well as staining washes on the Clanrat banner bearer. While waiting for them to try, I decided to build up some more battleline for the army. Didn't want to start another unit of Clanrats (as that would require doing 20 models more), nor go for the Clans Skryre direction I've been planning yet. So a unit of 10 Stormvermin was the order of the day, as they can be used as a battleline unit in a Skaventide army.
Pillaging through my bits boxes I found 5 old Stormvermin models in various conditions. They were joined with the bigger armoured Clanrat models, and got chewed up Chaos / Elf shields to better distinguish these elite rodents from their smaller cousins. If you like cool looking shields, please chew them. If you like your teeth intact, please don't. Next up I'll sculpt more armour, and might add some spikes or ridiculous head ornaments on them.
At the moment my army list looks like this:
* Warlock Engineer (almost done)
* Hell Pit Abomination (almost done)
* 20 Clanrats (done, except for the banner)
* 10 Stormvermin (assembled)
* 10 Giant Rats (done)
* 4 Rat Swarms (done)
* 2 Rat Ogors (done)
I should probably add in more characters. Vermin Lord (got the old metal model waiting for assembly!), Clawlord and Master Moulder might be the ones I'll go for next. A unit of Stormfiends and other Clans Skryre / Moulder stuff after those.

A little progress on the Skaventide
Did more highlights on the Warlock Engineer with Poisonous Cloud (green) and Centaur Skin (pink). Really liking both of those paints. Sycorax Bronze and Shining Silver on the analoguous metals. Still to pick out the small rat skulls and add some runes.
The banner on the Clanrat (still work in progress) is a pain in the a**, because of the way I decided to assemble the miniature without even trying if any banner would actually fit in. As it turned out, lots of cutting and twisting of the paper-made flag are in order as I don't want to break down and re-assemble the model. Otherwise the poor duder can't see anything from behind the banner. I'll definitely remember this the next time I convert a banner bearing model.
For the Hell Pit Abomination, lots of washes, drybrushes, glazes, super watery highlights and wet blending were used. All the same paints as I've been using earlier with these Skaven. Getting there, slowly but surely. It's gonna be a really nice beast. But dear lord how many mould lines I just completely missed while cleaning up the tentacles. Oh booger.
Much-much kudos if you already noticed there were precisely 13 pictures of the Hell Pit Abomination in this post.

Much progress on the Skaventide
So umm, yeah. Finished painting the Rat Ogors (planning to convert 6 more), and worked on the Warlock Engineer based on the good old Ikit Klaw I had cut the head off back in the day for some dubious reason. Did more sculpting on the Hell Pit Abomination, and gave it teeth cut from toothpicks. The Army Painters Dead Flesh SORRY it was Necrotic Flesh's nozzle got clogged, so I used only black and white spray for basecoating the Abomination. Tried printing Skaven banners found from the internet, but couldn't get the sizes and colours right immediately, so started painting some. Sculpted very quickly a few more rats for the ever growing swarms, and begun scratch building a Skryre Acolyte. Can't wait to get wargaming with these!

Rat Swarms & Clanrats painted. And more WIP stuff.
The lovely little rats have slowly but surely gotten some paint on them. Really like how the Rat Swarms came out. Felt a bit overwhelming to sculpt a decent proportion of them in a self-imposed hurry. But after giving a couple of the rats different coloured washes and highlighting the tails and ears with Army Painters Centaur Skin and basing them, the swarms really came togehter. Must do-make more!
Then we've got another batch of 10 Clanrats. Pretty similiar painting process as with the earlier ones, exept I paid a bit more attention to rusty spots with Vallejos Yellowish Rust, Dry Rust and Transparent Orange ink. For the markings I went straight to the white and then edged with the black Pigma Brush pen. For some mysterious reason it felt way worse than doing black basecoat before the white+black. Still have to do a banner.
Progress on the Rat Ogres. Foisting some copper tones in. Then we've got a lovely leader and his pet here.
