Mutant Modifiers 2000pts SKAVENTIDE horde

OH YEAH, how nice!

This is the whole army I have been feverishly assembling, converting, scratch building, sculpting and painting for the last two months. From April 22nd until June 29th 2020 to be as precise as possible. Just yesterday I realized it all adds up to exactly 2000 points according to the very useful Age of Sigmar Warscroll Builder on Warhammer Community's page. It feels very good to see all these little scuttlers lined up on the tabletop, ready to be let loose and devour the world.

The list looks like this:

LEADERS:
Verminlord Warpseer (320)
Arch-Warlock (160)
Grey Seer (140)
Clawlord (100)
Master Moulder (100)

UNITS:
10 x Stormvermin - Halberds & shields (120)
20 x Clanrats - Spears & shields (120)
20 x Clanrats - Blades & shields (120)
4 x Rat Swarms (120)
2 x Rat Ogors (100)
10 x Giant Rats (60)
3 x Packmasters (60)
5 x Skryre Acolytes (60)
1 x Warpfire Thrower (70)
1 x Ratling Gun (60)

BEHEMOTHS:
Hell Pit Abomination (240)

EXTRAS:
Command Point (50)
3 x Gnawhole (0)

TOTAL: 2000/2000

LEADERS: 5/6
BATTLELINES: 3/3+
BEHEMOTHS: 2/4

WOUNDS: 146
MODELS: 85

*************

Actually, I could include the Fleshmeld Menagerie (160pts) and Claw-Horde (180pts) battalions in the army as well. Also the Warp Lightning Cannon (180pts) and 4 more Rat Swarms (120pts) are almost ready to get some paints on - all in all that's maybe two or three days worth of work. All these would add another 640 points to the army, and if I'll build up units of 3 Stormfiends (260pts) and 3 Jezzails (140pts) I've been planning next, this would take the army's total cost to around 3000 points. Sweet!

Skaventide leaders painted

Secretly plotting and ushering their multitudinous hordes of lesser vermin forth, here are the Vermin Lord and his two Clawlord underlings. Might use the other Clawlord as a Grey Seer though. Just love to paint wrinkled robes and big areas of muscle.

Skaventide rank and file painted

I finally managed to clean the table from numerous boxes full of Skaven bits, and set up the table lamps with daylight bulbs. Been using just the crappy camera flash for all the WIP pics recently just to speed things up. But it's nice to try and take better pics of the finished miniatures. So here are the latest additions to my Skaventide hordes, painted over the course of last two or three weeks:

* 20 Clanrats with rusty spears
* Ratling Cannon weapon team
* 5 Skryre Acolytes
* Warpfire Thrower weapon team
* 3 Packmasters
* Master Moulder

Painting the Vermin Lord, Clawlord and Ratling Gun

Also matt varnish for the Clanrats painted earlier.

I've been using browns and greens for quite a while for most of the dulling/dirtying paintwork. Tried some Nuln Oil for a change and boy is it just great! Forgot to put any dark wash over the Oily Steel parts on the Clawlord, and went straight to painting rusty bright oranges on them. Same thing happened with verdigris on the Ratling Gun, so Kabalite Green went in before Darkoath Flesh unlike I usually do. Worked out just fine. The Nihilakh Oxide & Verdigris Glaze on the Clawlord's robes was also a successful experiment.

The Vermin Lord was an absolute blast to paint. One the nicest miniatures I've ever got. Wanted to try something special for his skin tone, and went for Kabalite Green blended all the way up to pinkish Centaur Skin highlights. Otherwise very similiar stuff as with the other Skaven.
